Local Outreach
Clemson United Methodist contributes funds and volunteers to numerous local organizations, including:
- Clemson Community Care
- Clemson Child Development Center
- Clemson Free Clinic
- Meals on Wheels
- ReWiGo Ministries
Additionally, in June 2010, CUMC entered a partnership with Clemson First Baptist Church to build a Habitat house in Central. Members are encouraged to participate as construction workers, greeters, or snack servers. This is a wonderful opportunity for church members to provide for a family in our community.
Backpack Project:
With one full year of experience the Backpack Friday food program in the Pickens County schools has grown to the point that all schools in Pickens County will be included next year. CUMC has been a key portion of this program with the start up and continuing support for the students of the elementary schools. It is not too early to make with donations for the 2011-2012 school year. Contributions in any amount are welcome. It still costs $124 per year for one student to receive a take home food pack each Friday. Donations can be made to CUMC or to the Capital Bank in Clemson with a reference to "The Back Pack" project. The students of Pickens County thank you for your continued support! - Adult Discussion Class
Clemson Community Care:
CCC will begin our holiday food program on November 14. We would like for all of our client families to have a turkey for the holidays. If you would like to donate a turkey, please bring it to CCC Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:00pm or call 653-4460 to arrange another time. Thank you for helping us make the holidays better for neighbors in our community!
Clemson Community Care's food needs for this month are:
Peanut Butter, Canned Pasta, Canned Meat, Juice, Mixed Vegetables, Tomato Sauce, Pasta, Dry Milk
CCC items may be placed in the wheelbarrow in the Church Narthex, or in the either of the red wagons in the Children's and Office Buildings.
Thanks for your support of CCC!
Habitat Volunteers:
Habitat Volunteers are not all builders. Pickens County Habitat for Humanity is in early stages of planning a resale store in Easley. Starting this fall volunteers will be needed to join the Habitat team by volunteering for one or two 3-hour shifts per month. Volunteers like you will be needed to manage the store, process inventory, drive a van, or serve as retail clerks. If you want to support Habitat and leave your hammer home, please send your name, email address, and number to pchfh@bellsouth.net. Please let us hear from you!
